MEET KATIE
Katie grew up in beautiful Ojai, CA. She attended Biola University and received her Bachelor of Arts in Music degree, emphasis on French horn. She met her husband, Ryan, at Biola and they were married in 2011. She had the privilege of working with orphans in Romania for several years and it shaped her outlook on the world. Katie learned the importance of cultivating family bonds for the care and nurturing of children as well as a life-long call to serving those less fortunate.
After getting married, the Hallums moved to Cincinnati, OH for Ryan's Master in Trumpet Performance degree. Katie began working with an international humanitarian aid and disaster relief organization. She traveled to Haiti frequently, overseeing medical clinics and orphan outreach, eventually spearheading the construction and opening of a missionary hotel in Port-au-Prince.
In 2015, they moved back to CA to be closer to family and landed in Orange County where Ryan and Katie both got jobs in music and education. In 2017, they welcomed their first child, Abigail Kate, and it kicked off Katie's passion for birth. After Abigail's birth, she was privileged to begin doula work.
Katie and Ryan welcomed their second child, Wesley Christopher, during first few months of the Covid-19 pandemic. Katie decided to pursue full time birthwork during this life change, working with dozens of families in the years since. She is thrilled to serve families as a Birthing From Within certified childbirth educator/mentor and doula, both virtually and in person.
